Spring Cleaning is Here (but not the normal kind)
/When one cycle ends, another begins. We see this in our environment, we see this in our life, and we see this in ourselves. Just when you think you’ve mastered something, gained clarity, broke through barriers, and have done “the work”–new challenges present themselves.
This is that natural progression of things, and it isn’t meant to be discouraging– rather, it’s meant to keep us evolving.
Spring has arrived, and with it, “spring cleaning” is upon us. I’m not speaking to cleaning and organizing your home (although that may also prove beneficial)– I’m pointing to a sort of “energetic cleaning up” of ourselves.
Spring asks us to cut away the excess that’s been bogging us down. Spring is a time of cleansing, growth, and renewal. We clear away the mess of branches and new buds appear– a sense of rebirth and purpose begin to rise to the surface once again.
For me, personally, I’ve been experiencing it as a “wake up call” this year. Just when I believe I’ve cleaned away all the old cobwebs from my shadowy corners, I find more dusty nooks that were overlooked last time.
Like I said before: this is the natural order of things. We clean away what’s visible to us right now, we cannot see what needs to be cleared after that, it’s only in the doing-so that the next layer becomes illuminated.
This season the horses have been asking me to step into the light a bit more. What parts of myself have I been editing out for fear of being seen a certain way? Which parts of my false self (ego) identity have been hiding other aspects of my true self because they do not fit into a neat and tidy blueprint? And whose approval do I seek by trying to tame the more unruly bits of me that belong to the magical forest?
These are the questions I’ve been asking myself lately. My own “spring cleaning”, if you will. I invite you to try asking yourself these questions, as well – in doing so, you realize that the answer is in asking the questions themselves.
If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that the richness of life isn’t found in the shiny, refined, and edited versions we try so hard to present to the world. Instead, it’s found in the wholeness of it all. It’s found when we marry the presentable with the disheveled, the queen with the forest witch.
If you’re looking for an example of this, just watch a horse for a day. They dance effortlessly between the worlds– so regal and yet, so wild. Balance lives in places where the natural duality is preserved.
This, my friends, is where the magic lives.
If you’re feeling called to journey back to your wild wholeness, I encourage you to check out my online course, Finding Wild Peace. Spring session will be starting soon!
Enjoy the journey, xo
